About DECA

DECA is an international business association that provides students leadership and communication skills for the real world. The club helps prepare students around the globe who plan to pursue careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Additionally, DECA is one of the four nationally recognized clubs by colleges and universities.

DECA offers competitions in which students compete against each other from different schools, states, and countries. Competitions are divided into four distinct clusters: marketing, hospitality and tourism, business management and administration, and finance. Events increase in competitiveness as students qualify for higher levels, beginning at Regionals, followed by the State Career Development Conference, and culminating in the International Career Development Conference.

Although not required, choosing to compete in an event is highly recommended for all members. In order to be eligible under our new Active Member Credits (AMC) system, you must attend five meetings and three DECA events.

What DECA stands for…
In 1946 the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) organized around an ambitious goal: to improve educational and career opportunities for American students. In the years since its formation, DECA has remained on the cutting edge of educational innovation and has become nationally known for integrating academic achievement with vocational skills and creating linkages with the business community.
